Brian Harris
General Manager
(email Brian)
Brian Harris is an experienced offshore sailor and racer who possesses the technical skills to build, fix, and optimize the boats he sails. With a career spanning decades, Brian has successfully managed two boat yards, including his long-term tenure at Maine Yacht Center. Under his leadership over the last 20+ years, MYC has become a premier hub for high-performance offshore racing boats and a destination for boat owners looking to have their vessels refit and prepared for both coastal and offshore voyaging. Before joining Maine Yacht Center, Brian was as a preparateur for several Vendee Globe campaigns. Years later, Brian moved from a supporting role to the helm when, in 2022, he competed in the Globe 40, a multi-leg, double-handed, Class 40 race around the world. Sailing the Lombard designed Akilaria RC3 "Amhas," Brian and his teammates took 2nd place overall in the 30,000 + mile inaugural edition of the race. Today, Brian continues to leverage his years of sailing and management experience to run day-to-day operations at Maine Yacht Center while still occasionally competing in sailboat races or crewing on an ocean voyage. Brian holds a USCG 200-ton master license.
